Synergy Chi is an ongoing album presentation based in Chicago that will be bringing women in Hip-Hop to the forefront. Founded by Jovan Landry (talented emcee, photographer, and filmmaker) and funded by WeWork's Creator Award, Synergy will be able to document the creation of the album with videos from the studio, photo shoots, local shows, and eventually taking the album's contributors to perform in other cities.
This project is very important for many reasons: 1) Women in Hip-Hop are often overlooked and undermined as secondary to their male counterparts. 2) There hasn't been a big enough spotlight on the talented women that make Hip-Hop culture what it is. 3) We haven't seen enough unity between the women that have been broadcast on a mainstream level, so this project puts that family element back on display for us to appreciate each artist's unique perspective and skill without the element of competition.
We're very excited about the whole Synergy Chi movement and are looking forward to more details as this project rolls out. Be sure to follow them on all social media and stay tuned!
