iHeartRadio is currently in the market for new content, podcasts, and radio shows. With this new sense of focus and urgency from the radio powerhouse, they've partnered with a rising radio show based out of South Minneapolis called the Power Hour. The show has been around for a few seasons on their own network, but now that they are syndicated through iHeart, they're ready to take things to the next level. In less than 2 months, they've started playing music from over 20 countries and are building a name for themselves as a great resource for independent artists. We've been in contact with the show's host, Ethan "Mr. Music" Horace, who's passionately explained that his mission is to play the best indie music on a great platform but with no radio politics involved.
Mr. Music and his team are pushing for inclusiveness with the artists they support due to many women and LGBTQ artists expressing how hard it's been for them to be heard. This has played a big role in their show with growing support coming from various communities. The Power Hour show also consists of Crystal Meisinger (Project Coordinator), Derrick Mayes (Music Director), and Zachara Ormsby (Show Assistant). Any independent artists that would like to be considered for airplay on the Power Hour radio show can reach out to Mr. Music via Twitter or submit to email@example.com.
Once again, be on the lookout for Fresh & Local's upcoming digital event, the Songwriter's Social Club on August 29th. We will be joined by Ethan "Mr. Music" Horace during the broadcast and will go further in depth about his role in radio. RSVP for the event here.
