Bringing the Soul Back with Jane Handcock: Oakland's Best Kept Secret

It's been awhile since we covered any new music on the site, and it's with great pleasure to come back with a hidden gem. Allow us to introduce you to Jane Handcock: a prodigy of sorts from the reigns of Oakland, California. Originally known as a songwriter, she's has earned credits for artists such as Adrian Marcel and Kelly Rowland while also working in the studio with the likes of legends like Ma$e and Teddy Riley.

After taking some time away from contributing to other artists projects, Jane has released two mixtapes that were executive produced by another West Coast legend, Raphael Saadiq. Her soulful cadence glides over tracks seemingly effortlessly and with her latest output "Who Dis" and "My Nigga" you can tell that classic R&B/Soul music runs deep in her DNA. Her influences range from Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight, to Missy Elliot and Roxanne Shante. We'll be updating with more of Jane Handcock's material very soon, so stay tuned. Until then, check out the video for "My Nigga" and her quick EP 'Where's Jane? Series 1.'
