Let's just go ahead and call a spade for what it is: the Bronx is definitely producing some of today's hottest artists. Whether you want to look at the impact of Cardi B, the viral nature of A Boogie With The Hoodie, the resurgence of Remy Ma, or the young and independents like Denzil Porter, Prince Wiser and Kemba (and more) - you have to give credit where it's due. Kemba came on the scene years ago under the name YC The Cynic and decided to change his name in 2016, citing his natural growth as a man and no longer identifying with his earlier image or material. The Fresh & Local team became particularly aware of Kemba in December of that same year when Kendrick Lamar invited him on stage for an impromptu verse that left the whole crowd and K. Dot himself stunned.
In his latest video release, "No You Ain't" Kemba remixed grime artist JME's song of the same name and gives the listener a brief history lesson about his upbringing in the BX while showcasing some of his fluid wordplay in effortless ways. He has a tight grasp of the English language and weaves in and out of rhyme patterns impressively. Kemba's got a new project on the way, although we're not equipped with the details on when to expect it, but please stay tuned for more updates as they come. We're suspecting that this may be his year to break through to the masses. Shout out to SBTV for presenting this video too. Definitely a good look. Be sure to follow Kemba on his various social media handles!
Update: Kemba just released another new video called "Hallelujah," watch it below.
